The aftermath of the 2016 Brexit referendum has already produced a plethora of academic and journalistic commentary. Amongst the most notable publications, all in 2018, are Tim Oliver’s Understanding Brexit. A Concise Introduction, Fintan O’Toole’s Heroic Failure. Brexit and the Politics of Pain, The Routledge Handbook of the Politics of Brexit, edited by Patrick Diamond, Peter Nedergaard and Ben Rosamond, and Brexit and Literature. Critical and Cultural Responses, edited by Robert Eaglestone. In 2019, the Journal for the Study of British Cultures added to this by dedicating its annual two issues to, respectively, the cultural (“Brexit and the Divided United Kingdom”, 1/2019) and literary (“Literatures of Brexit”, 2/2019) study of the topic.
