Funktionsbewertung von Niedermoorflächen in Rostock

Ausgehend von der Bedeutung der Moore im Naturhaushalt, der Sensibilität der Moorsubstrate und der vorhandenen Nutzungskonkurrenz im urbanen Raum wurden 15 potenzielle Niedermoorflächen des Rostocker Stadtgebietes (Mecklenburg- Vorpommern) in den zurückliegenden Jahren im Sinn der Bodenkundlichen Kartieranleitung nach einheitlichen Kriterien neu kartiert. Die im Rahmen des vorsorgenden Bodenschutzes eingeleiteten Feld- und Laboruntersuchungen betrafen die Flächenausdehnung und den Zustand der Moorsubstrate und bedienten sich gängiger Untersuchungsverfahren. Nach aktueller Kalkulation erreicht der Flächenanteil rezenter Niedermoore im bebauten Raum der Stadt Rostock lediglich 2 %. Bei Hinzuziehung der naturnahen Niedermoore unter Wald innerhalb des Stadtgebietes erhöht sich der Anteil auf ca. 8 %. Auf der Basis der bei der Erfassung von Niedermooren im urbanen Raum gesammelten Erfahrungen wurde ein Mindestuntersuchungsprogramm abgeleitet.

Due to the importance of peatlands for nature conservation, the sensitivity of peat to degradation and the land use conflicts in urban areas, 15 potential peatlands within the city limits of Rostock (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) were re-surveyed during the last years. In the framework of precautionary soil protection, field and laboratory studies focussed on the extent and the current degradation status of the peat substrates. According to current accounts, peatlands cover only 2 % of the built area of the city of Rostock. When taking into account more natural peatlands in forested areas within the borders of the city, this share rises to 8 % of the city area. On the basis of the experience gathered during the course of this study, minimum requirements for the evaluation of urban peatlands have been defined.
