Thomas Dixon: Weeping Britannia. Portrait of a Nation in Tear. First edition: 2015. Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2017.
Thomas Dixon’s monograph Weeping Britannia, the main aim of which is to “explode some myths about British national character” surrounding the “stiff upper lip”, has now been made available in a cheaper paperback format. Upon its initial release in 2015, the book was widely acclaimed by critics, not only making The Guardian’s best history books of 2015 list but also earning nominations for “best book of the year” in both The Spectator and The Times Literary Supplement.
